William & Mary Beats Men’s Soccer 3-0

The Binghamton men’s soccer team faced off against William & Mary in a non-conference game at the Bearcats Sports Complex. The match ended in a 3-0 victory for William & Mary, with Lucas Caldas leading the charge with two goals. Caldas, a preseason all-conference selection by the Colonial Athletic Association, scored both of his goals in the first half of the game. The first goal came in the seventh minute off a cross from Evan Rabush and Sam Delgado, while the second goal was scored in the 31st minute from a pass by Augie Cooper.

In addition to Caldas‘ goals, Tre Barrett of William & Mary added another goal in the 41st minute, dribbling through traffic and firing the ball into the net from 10 yards away. Despite a strong defensive effort from Binghamton in the second half, William & Mary’s goalkeeper, Cole McNally, made four saves to secure the shutout.

Head coach Paul Marco expressed his disappointment with the loss but acknowledged the team’s strong start to the game. He highlighted the need to capitalize on opportunities in future matches and emphasized the importance of continued improvement in training sessions.

Looking ahead, Binghamton will face off against Hofstra University in their next game on Monday at 7 p.m. The Pride, currently receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 National Poll, will pose another tough challenge for the Bearcats. With a focus on learning from their mistakes and building on their strengths, Binghamton will look to bounce back and secure a positive result in their upcoming match.

Overall, the game against William & Mary provided valuable lessons for the Binghamton men’s soccer team. While the result may not have been what they hoped for, the team will use this experience to grow and improve as they continue their season. With a resilient attitude and a commitment to hard work, the Bearcats are poised to bounce back and showcase their potential in future games.
