All the latest updates from the 2024 tennis tournament

The Cincinnati Open tennis tournament is set to return to Mason from August 11-19, 2024. This year, attendees can expect a range of new offerings and exciting updates to the event. Formerly known as the Western & Southern Open, the tournament has reverted to its original name, the Cincinnati Open, in honor of its 125th anniversary. Held at the Lindner Family Tennis Center since 1979, this historic tournament is the country’s longest-running event of its kind played in its city of origin.

One of the new features for 2024 is the introduction of a Community Day on Saturday, August 10. This special event will give fans early access to the venue before matches begin on Sunday. Attendees can enjoy autograph sessions with players, yoga sessions, live music, tastings at the Top Deck, and other special events. An exhibition doubles match featuring tennis legends Andre Agassi, John Isner, Andy Roddick, and Mardy Fish will headline the event at 2 p.m. Tickets for Community Day range from $10-$50, with proceeds benefiting Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.

To commemorate the 125th anniversary of the tournament, a fresh logo featuring the new name will debut at Community Day, along with limited-edition merchandise available for purchase. The merchandise shop has also been revamped with apparel from Legends, a new merchandise vendor.

Significant upgrades have been made to the stadium seating at both Center Court and Grandstand Court as part of a $260 million investment in renovating the venue. Center Court now features nearly 12,000 new stadium seats with padded seat bottoms, armrests, cupholders, and extra legroom. Additionally, a private lounge area called The Oasis has been added to the northeast corner of Center Court, offering ticket holders in specific sections access to curated Italian-style food and drink.

A new VIP experience, Baseline Premier Box Seats at Center Court, has been introduced, featuring climate control, cooling technology seating, and built-in mini-fridges for water and cold towels. Suites at Grandstand Court and upgrades to Center Court suites are also available for hosting groups of various sizes.

The venue now boasts four new practice courts, bringing the total to 21 courts across the site. Fans will have more opportunities to watch star players warm up before matches. New global brands such as Betway, Holcim, SAP, and Cadillac have partnered with the Cincinnati Open in 2024, joining existing sponsors like Emirates, Rolex, and Fila.

In terms of dining options, new vendors such as Alfio’s Buon Cibo, Playa Bowls, Taste of Belgium, and La Crema Wine Garden have been added to the tournament’s extensive offerings. Looking ahead to 2025, the Cincinnati Open will continue its $260 million renovation project with plans to add a new facade wrapping both Center Court and Grandstand Court, a permanent shaded fan plaza, a new 2,000-seat sunken stadium, and additional courts to accommodate the expansion to 96 players in the ATP and WTA singles field.

Overall, the 2024 Cincinnati Open promises to be an exciting and memorable event for tennis fans, with a host of new features, upgrades, and partnerships to enhance the tournament experience.
