College Teams of USWNT Players at the 2024 Olympics

The US Women’s National Soccer Team is gearing up for the 2024 Olympics in Paris, where they will be competing for the gold medal. This year, out of the 22-player squad, an impressive 19 players are former NCAA student-athletes, representing 11 different colleges. Stanford leads the pack with five players, followed by North Carolina with three, and Penn State and Florida State with two each.

Starting with the goalkeepers, Alyssa Naeher from Penn State and Casey Murphy from Rutgers will be guarding the net for the USWNT. Naeher, a former Nittany Lion, has an impressive record with two World Cup titles and ranks third all-time in caps, wins, and shutouts for a goalkeeper in U.S. history. On the other hand, Murphy set a program record for single-season shutouts at Rutgers before earning her first international cap with the USWNT in 2021.

Moving on to the defenders, Tierna Davidson from Stanford, Emily Fox from North Carolina, Naomi Girma from Stanford, Casey Krueger from Florida State, Jenna Nighswonger from Florida State, and Emily Sonnett from Virginia will be holding down the backline for the USWNT. In the midfield, Korbin Albert from Notre Dame, Sam Coffey from Penn State, Lindsey Horan from North Carolina, Rose Lavelle from Wisconsin, and Catarina Macario from Stanford will be controlling the midfield for the USWNT. Up top, Crystal Dunn from North Carolina, Trinity Rodman, Jaedyn Shaw, and Sophia Smith from Stanford, and Mallory Swanson will be leading the attack for the USWNT. These forwards have proven themselves on the college stage with goals, assists, and championship titles.

In addition to the main roster, the USWNT also has alternates including Jane Campbell from Stanford, Hal Hershfelt from Clemson, Croix Bethune from Georgia, and Lynn Williams from Pepperdine.
