High school sports results in the Monroe Region from Aug. 20-24

The Adrian Tennis Tournament showcased some impressive performances from the Bedford team, with Jaxon Nejedlik standing out by winning two matches in straight sets. Nejedlik’s victories not only secured wins for the team but also marked a significant milestone in his career. With these wins, he reached a total of 57 career victories, breaking the tie with Wes Eid to claim the school record. This achievement is a testament to Nejedlik’s skill and dedication to the sport.

In addition to Nejedlik’s success, other members of the Bedford team also had a strong showing at the tournament. Carter Ryan-Taylor Burgermeister at No. 1 doubles, Bryce Bialorucki-Landon Sparks at No. 2 doubles, and Cooper Daudelin-Josh Beauregard-Knittle all went 2-0, contributing to the team’s overall success. Coach Eric Cukierski expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, stating that it was a good day for everyone to kick off the season on a positive note.

Switching gears to the world of prep soccer, Ian Petrick of New Boston Huron delivered a standout performance by scoring five goals and providing an assist in a dominant 9-0 victory over Plymouth Christian. Petrick’s exceptional display of skill and teamwork propelled his team to a resounding win, with goals also coming from Aidan Dolencic, Matthew Hussey, Jordan Stasak, and Roman Pritt. The team’s success was further highlighted by Johann Vasquez’s trio of assists and contributions from other players, showcasing a well-rounded and cohesive effort on the field.

In another soccer matchup, Monroe and Bedford played to a 2-2 tie, with Tobin Becker and Logan Brockway scoring for Monroe. Cooper Robinson and Jovanny Gallegos provided the assists, with Coach Ian Cooke acknowledging the team’s need to match Bedford’s intensity and desire throughout the game. Despite a strong finish, Cooke emphasized the team’s reliance on goalkeeper Nathan Sanchez, who was hailed as the best player of the match for his standout performance.

Meanwhile, Milan secured a 2-2 tie against Riverview with a late goal from Caiden Lambers off an assist from Nolan Matley. This crucial goal in the final minutes allowed Milan to salvage a draw in a closely contested match, showcasing the team’s resilience and ability to capitalize on opportunities when it mattered most.

In prep volleyball action, Summerfield had a mixed outing, defeating Whitmore Lake but falling short against Charyl Stockwell. Standout performances from players like Sarah Prati, Jaeli Jones, Mia Miller, Aubrey Vanderhoof, and Kyra Horak highlighted the team’s competitive spirit and determination on the court.
