Madison Workman joins field hockey team as graduate assistant

The Bellarmine University field hockey team has made an exciting addition to its coaching staff with the appointment of former collegiate player Madison Workman as a graduate assistant. Head coach Devanny Boisvert announced the news, expressing her enthusiasm for Workman’s arrival and the positive impact she is expected to have on the program.

Workman, who hails from Milton, Ontario, brings a wealth of experience to the role. As the older sister of junior Bellarmine goalkeeper Kailey Workman, she played five seasons at Miami University in Ohio, a familiar opponent for the Knights in the Mid-American Conference. During her time at Miami, Workman was a standout defender, logging nearly 4,800 minutes on the field and contributing to five consecutive MAC championships and NCAA Tournament appearances.

One of Workman’s notable achievements was being named to the MAC All-Tournament team as a senior. Additionally, she earned recognition for her academic achievements, being named to the Academic All-MAC Team four times. Her success on and off the field demonstrates her dedication and commitment to excellence in all aspects of her collegiate career.

In addition to her collegiate experience, Workman has also represented Field Hockey Canada on the international stage. In the summer and fall of 2021, she competed with the Junior Women’s Team in the Junior Pan American Games in Chile and the Junior World Cup in South Africa. This exposure to high-level competition will undoubtedly benefit the Bellarmine field hockey program as Workman shares her insights and expertise with the team.

Workman’s coaching background further enhances her value to the Bellarmine field hockey program. She has coached at the club level in both Ohio and Ontario, gaining valuable experience working with high school teams. Her coaching stints include leading the high school team at the Oxford Brave club and serving as an assistant for Field Hockey Life’s high school teams in Columbus.
