Volleyball Ranked Fourth in WCC Preseason Poll

The Pacific volleyball team has been making waves in the West Coast Conference, as they were recently selected to tie for fourth place in the 2024 WCC Preseason Poll. This marks the second consecutive year that the Tigers have been voted to tie for fourth in the coaches‘ poll, showcasing their consistency and competitiveness within the conference. Last season, the Tigers finished fourth with a 10-6 record in WCC contests and an overall record of 18-11, earning them a spot in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship for the third straight year.

Two standout players from the Pacific team, graduate outside hitter Alexa Edwards and senior setter Jenna Heller, were both named to the All-WCC Preseason Team. This recognition is a testament to their skill and leadership on the court, as they both earned spots on the All-WCC First Team in the previous season. Edwards, who has now collected her third preseason mention in a row, is joined by Heller for the first time. This dynamic duo will undoubtedly play a crucial role in the Tigers‘ success this upcoming season.

In the 2024 WCC Volleyball Preseason Coaches Poll, Pacific tied with Oregon State for fourth place with 70 points each. The reigning WCC Champion, Pepperdine, claimed the top spot with 98 points and eight first-place votes. The competition within the conference is fierce, with teams like San Diego, LMU, and Washington State also vying for the top positions. The Tigers will have their work cut out for them as they aim to climb the ranks and make a strong statement in the WCC this season.

The Tigers will kick off their season on the road at the Rebel Challenge tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada, where they will face off against Iowa State on August 30 at 3 p.m. This will be an exciting opportunity for the team to showcase their skills and set the tone for the rest of the season. With a talented roster and experienced coaching staff, the Tigers are poised to make a run for the top spots in the WCC and beyond.

In addition to Edwards and Heller, the 2024 WCC Volleyball Preseason Team features standout players from various schools in the conference. Players like Genevieve Bane from Saint Mary’s, Nemo Beach from San Diego, and Grace Chillingworth from Pepperdine highlight the depth of talent in the WCC. The competition will be fierce, but the Tigers are ready to rise to the challenge and make their mark in the conference.
